An access log is a detailed list of all the files which were accessed by the guests of a given Internet site. Every single file which was requested for whatever reason shall be listed, so if you have just one page with 3 embedded pictures, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for any of the 6 files that were accessed when the site visitor opened the webpage. A log usually shows the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s Operating System, web browser and IP address. In some cases you could also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The info an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a desktop machine and used to prepare reports on the functionality of a website, besides the web stats that your server may have produced.
Access Log Manager in Cloud Website Hosting
When you buy a cloud website hosting
from our company, you'll be able to choose if access logs have to be created and for which domains or subdomains inside your account this should be done. You may activate this feature from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, incorporated with all shared accounts. Every single domain
you host or subdomain you create will be listed there and you see an On/Off option next to each one of them, so you can conveniently enable or disable the generation of access logs individually for every website that you have. You may save a log to your PC by clicking on the Download link that you will see inside the same section of the CP. The link will be available even if you deactivate the log generation, so you'll still have access to the data gathered by our system.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you host your sites in a semi-dedicated server
account with us, you will have the option to enable or disable the generation of access logs with just several mouse clicks inside your Hepsia hosting CP. You'll find this feature within the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access as soon as you sign in. All it takes for our system to start creating logs is a click on the On button which you will see there. The function can be triggered independently for any site regardless if it uses a domain or a subdomain and you shall find the complete list of all the hosts within that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with a click and you could then view it manually or use some software on your PC. The log generation may be deactivated by simply changing the On option to Off in the Logs section of your CP.
